The AIIMS RESA 2026 is a robust three-stage selection system designed to evaluate technical expertise, analytical competencies, and practical understanding:

Stage-I: Written / Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Total Questions: 200 Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (4 choices, 1 single correct answer).
  • Negative Marking: Correct answers award 1 mark; wrong answers carry a penalty of frac{1}{3} negative marking. Unanswered items or items marked for review receive zero marks.
  • Question Distribution:
    • 100 Questions: Research Methodology, Research Tools, General English, Aptitude, and Awareness.
    • 100 Questions: Specific Subject domain according to the candidate’s core qualification criteria.
  • Qualifying Cut-off Marks:
    • 50% for UR/EWS categories.
    • 45% for OBC/SC/ST/PwBD categories.

Stage-II: Eligibility Screening

  • Candidates will be short-listed in order of merit based on Stage-I results.
  • The top five (5) times the number of advertised category seats will have their uploaded certificates and documents audited for provisional eligibility.

Stage-III: Descriptive Written Test (DWT)

  • Mode: Pen and Paper (Offline mode) conducted exclusively in English.
  • Duration: 2 Hours (120 Minutes).
  • Maximum Marks: 50 Marks.
  • Objective: To assess practical knowledge application, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, decision-making, and administrative or ethical awareness within realistic scenarios.

Important: Final merit list calculation is determined by combining scores from Stage-I (CBT) and Stage-III (DWT). Remaining absent in Stage-III after clearing Stage-I will instantly disqualify the candidate.

Critical Application Instructions & Disqualifications

  1. OTR Warning: Applicants previously registered under the One Time Registration (OTR) system on the AIIMS portal are mandatorily required to use their old credentials. Registering via a new ID may lead to automatic cancellation.
  2. Image Clearances: The candidate must double-check previews for photographs, signatures, and left thumb impressions. Blurry, improper, or digitally modified/morphed images will lead to strict rejection.
  3. No Physical Documents: Candidates are not required to mail or physically post application logs or documents to the Examination Section. Physical submissions will be destroyed.
  4. No Objection Certificate (NOC): If you are working in any Government, Semi-Govt, PSU, or Govt-funded Autonomous Institution (even as a contractual employee), acquiring an NOC is mandatory. It must be updated on the portal by 21.07.2026 and produced at document verification.
